World Peace Initaitive
A group of energetic young people formed a an organization called Mannam. Helping out in nursing homes, orphanages, charity fundraisers and different kinds of excursions to build comradeship and fellowship. Opened to all foreigners. There were foreigners from all corners of the world, also from all religious backgrounds. Mannam quickly became a foreigner magnet with its upbeat attitude and inspiring message. They put on an event entitled the World Peace initiative. Allegedly accused of being the branch of a religious cultist South Korean group, Mannam is a self-proclaimed volunteer association. During the peace celebration there was a certain man that was being celebrated by a particular woman, She claimed that she was able to find and understand true peace through him. later on it was stated that he was the only person who saw and heard the events of Revelation and can testify to the mysteries of Revelation, exactly according to the Bible. Interesting.
Wonju's Market (원 주)
Wonju is the biggest city in Gangwon-do, bigger even than Chuncheon, it’s capital. In fact, Wonju was once the ancient capital of the Gangwon Province, holding the title for 500 years during the Joseon Dynasty. It’s population is a little over 300,000, and growing. I ventured through one of the markets in that city. There were an array of people with different stories painted on their faces. I’ve often enjoyed observing the older generation and how they fit into the modern fabric of society. Observing the vendors, i felt the struggle of everyday life. Groups varies. Some formed small communities for collected revenue income, while others fended for themselves facing the perils of rejection and being ignored. Taking a step away from the large scale supermarkets and shopping centers, you’re thrown into a world where haggling and grabbing extra product take center stage. A place where service and exchange transactions are redefined or at times even eliminated.
